I’m not the only one who thinks it is beyond screwed up that stunt doubles aren’t eligible to earn awards at the Academy Awards.
It’s pretty unjust that the people who put their lives in danger for the sake of cinematography don’t reap any rewards for doing so.
And it doesn’t help that I’m pretty salty one of my favorite American Ninja Warriors, Jessie Graff, who works as a stunt double for Wonder Woman, can’t get any awards either.
So me and my friend came up with the idea for an award dedicated to the stunt doubles.
Academy, take notes.
The Jackie Chan Award
I don’t think there’s anyone more suited than him to represent a category of underappreciated cast members. Sure, you could use Tom Cruise, since he does his own stunts too.
But Jackie is the world record holder for most stunts performed by a living actor.
Plus, he’s a great example of humility. I honestly wish I was related to him.
Fun fact: He is also the world record holder for most credits, serving as writer, directer, lead actor, producer, executive producer, cinematographer, art director, unit production manager, catering coordinator, stunt coordinator, gaffer, composer, theme tune vocalist, props and stuntman.
People need to stop sleeping on stunt actors. Seriously.
